photography: look up up up.

Bonsoir!
Do you know those times when you are walking down a street you've walked down many times before and for no particular reason your eyes wander up towards the housetops. Even though you've walked past these buildings, trees or places countless times before your field of vision has usually stayed at street level. So, suddenly you're looking UP. And you realise what you've been missing: a delightfully refreshing view of something seemingly so familiar. I love when that happens. Here's a series of photos I took while experiencing precisely that...

These shots were all taken with my very much adored toy-camera. It's become my side-along-friend.  I used AGFA vista 200 film - also a new favorite!

Im off to Heidelberg (Germany)this weekend to visit relatives & to pick up my long-awaited new camera. I am so excited! I hope to share first novice shots with you very soon..!

Photography: Jacinta Moore.

Hello Monday!!

Well I've got another photographer I just need to tell you about: Jacinta Moore! Her photgraphs are magic & I adore them. Can't put it any other way. She's an Aussie lady, has a delightful little puppy (a favorite subject I believe...), and has a way of capturing life that just fascinates me. Her travels, delicious looking (and most certainly delicious tasting) cooking and surroundings are photographed in such a lively way. So, as the lucky viewer, I get carried away on a colorful and vibrant journey...
Do you remember this post I did? Well, Jacinta took part in the wonderful 10/10-project.
What a talented lady she is...

Ok, I have to stop here! I could post at least one hundred more of her photographs! They are just so great! So, please go and have a look at her lovely blog! It's a visual delight!

much love,
Td.

Inspiration: trees. 1 million trees.

So here's an idea: how about making your blog CO2-neutral? You might be thinking the same thing I was when I heared that slogan: "CO2-neutral? Blah blah! How?"
Well, I now know that there is a way. Whether it will make a significant difference to our serious climate situation I do not assume to know. Also, I am not trying to spread my opinion about any environmental issues here.

You might have noticed the button in my sidebar that states:"my blog is carbon neutral". The project is called: "Machs grün! - Gemeinsam 1 Million Bäume retten!" ( "Make it green! - Together we will save 1 million trees!") The people behind this project have initiated many different projects. One of them is directed at us, the bloggers:

"Make your blog carbon neutral! For free!
Being part of the initiative “My blog is carbon neutral” is an active contribution to help the environment! All you have to do iscarbon-neutral-white-125x125 described here. Make it happen - make it green!
“My blog is carbon neutral” is an initiative, originally started in Germany by the “Make it green” programme, that has the goal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We plant a tree for your blog and thereby neutralise your blog’s carbon footprint for the next 50 years! Everyone can make a small contribution to the environment. Every tree counts!"

My next thought was: "It's that simple?"

And it is! I think it's a very good idea. I don't want to fool myself into believing and pretending I'm a super-greeny simply by decorating my side bar with a pretty button. But it's these ideas & projects that try to promote a different attitude and maybe point out that you CAN make a little difference. And not far from you a little tree will be planted, will grow and make the air just a tiny bit cleaner. So hip-hip-hurray to all the people behind this idea.

Surely, no harm can be done by planting a tree.

You can find out more about the programme & how to make your blog carbon neutral on the website.

Inspiration: megan kathleen mcisaac.

Hello Lovelies,

Here's a late-night post about a photographer who has been a source of  inspiration for my photography for  a while now: Megan Kathleen Mcisaac (how about that for a great name??! yes please!). I came across her blog a few months back and have been following & admiring her work ever since. Her photographs have a capturing aura. Perhaps I like them so much because, once again, they underline the beauty of everyday simplicity in an honest & authentic way. Et voilà...

If you would like to see more of her work visit her website or blog that is a great visual diary.
You might remember this post I did about the "Yellow Bird Project". Well Megan shot the photos for the Andrew-Bird T-shirt. LOVE!

Wishing you all good night!

Wardrobe treasures: etsy, je t'aime. part I.

Hello Lovelies,

Over time I have developed a rather persistent addiction / weakness for the ever-growing universe & the endlessly creative platform "etsy.com". I am discovering new labels daily. Vintage shops that make me "eeek" with joy and make me never want to buy another thing from H&M (each piece is unique, often cheaper than normal shops and vintage is a great way of "recycling" clothes instead of throwing them away). This and  hand-made art fill my heart with inspiration & admiration.
I love all the different displays of collections and hand-made treasures. The thing about all these labels is: the lovely people behind the shops do it with so much care, love, a great sense of style & a whole lot of talent.
But as I have a strict saving plan that I am forcing myself to stick to, I am only out to enjoy looking at all the wonderful things that are floating around the etsy-sphere, waiting to be discovered...

So I'll begin this series by sharing the following three labels with you:
