photography: Robin Mellway.

Here is the work of an amazing photographer. I simply have no words to describe how incredibly moved I was when I saw his work for the first time.  I can only sit here and look at the pictures over and over, taking in their mystical aura and how they create vibrant stories to match the images in my mind..! He only uses film, which is another reason for me to adore his work.  I think I am besotted by the poetry that seeps through every photograph. There is no other way for me to put it..

You can find a many many more stunning photographs on his website or flickr photostream.

Breathtaking.

music box: Anahi & Tim.

WELL, this week is all about THE MUSIC I guess.
Because here's another little musical gem I would like to share with you. My school-time friend, Anahi, has teamed up with Tim to create the lovely singer/songwriter duo "Anahi & Tim" bringing us beautiful mellow tunes. I am enjoying their sound very much! It reminds me of far-away places to dream about and balmy summer nights...

Make sure you stop by their myspace page for more lovely listening!

music box: People Press Play.

...

These days are moving fast ahead
And one more day like this
Could change everything that we
Ever thought would keep these days

...

Here's a catchy tune by "People Press Play" for you. . I've been dancing around the flat to this lately. I just adore the "floaty" sound! The video is so cute & playful! And what a coincidence it's all about kids flying kites. Because that’s something I've promised myself I would do this year. It's something I have never done! Can you imagine? I have never held onto a kite string and watched it dance high above me. I just think it must be so much fun and pretty to look at set against a blue sky. And it's such a timeless toy. So I guess my kite-première will be in Sydney. Maybe on the beach? Well, we will see...! Hurray!

xxx,

P.s How sweet is the part where the boy with the fishing rod looks like he's pulling the other boy on water skies through the water?

Little flea market: REVUEFLEX AC1

Hi Lovelies,

I've decided to let go of one of my cameras. I simply can't take them all to Sydney and I would hate to know that it's just lying around in a box. It should be used! I am offering my REVUEFLEX AC1 camera up for sale on my little flea market!

Go and have a look over at my flea market to see more details about this lovely SLR camera and some photos I took with it!

Photography: Winter walks II.

I adore Zurich's old town. I love wandering through it, pretending I'm some weird (Australian) tourist snapping away with her Zenit-B camera. HA! And to my own surprise, I usually always see new things in streets I've walked down many times before. So I don't mind looking like a lost tourist.

When I went for a walk in the Niederdorf on Saturday, I was rather amazed that there were so many people out and about with their digital cameras. I didn't cotton on till later in the day that the local photography competition had been taking place that day. The challenge was to photograph Zurich in a fresh & creative way and then upload the photos so that the public could choose a winner via online voting. Anybody could join in, both pro & amateur photographers. Well I missed out. I could not have joined in anyway as I am currently only shooting film. So it would've been impossible for me to enter my shots within the time limit of 24 hours. I wasn't sad. There were so many entries.

Here are some shots I took that day.

It would be GREAT if you could stop by and have a little look. You might find something you like... You might even have a friend or sister who would enjoy the things I've uploaded. GO ladies!

The moment of epiphany that changed EVERYTHING.

Hello Lovelies,

This post is pure excitement for me and I've been anticipating the moment to share it with you for a while now!!(Please excuse the length of this post but I had trouble limiting my joy!)
I am standing before a rather large (physical) change that has been affecting every aspect of my life lately.

Here's the thing:

Round about a year ago, I gradually & painfully had to admit to myself that I was heading down a career path my heart could not follow. I felt lost and, in a sense, empty when I thought about my future. The only thing I felt sure about was that I needed a serious change. It only hit me a couple of months later that during all my contemplation and searching, I had not considered one option that could mean the ultimate change in every way: to actually leave the country.
And so there it was: a pretty crazy idea that had captured my fantasy & motivation. Since that moment of epiphany, the idea has slowly but surely turned into an alarmingly ( in a good sense..)close reality. And it's all happening this spring. I am packing up my Swiss life and exchanging it for a couple of years in Sydney, Australia.
The most amazing part is that I will be reunited with my older sister, Shannon Rae. She has lived there for six full years now and is currently working on her acting career. But what is little me going to do "down under"?
Well, for starters: finally get my driving license (on the WRONG side of the road! HELP!) and then, follow my heart & passion... meaning, I have summed up all my courage and am currently in the process of enrolling at COFA Sydney to do a "Bachelor of Fine Arts". This is a daring and rather uncharacteristic move for me but I reassure myself every day that it is better to try something new, no matter how frightening, than just to surrender to my own fears and mediocrity.

When the idea of leaving Switzerland hit me, Sydney was the first, and really, the only place I considered. It's one of the coolest cities in Oz (I have not yet been to Melbourne... But hey, it will only be a short trip away...HA.)!
Here are some photos Shannon & I took on my last trip to Sydney in spring 2010 (my hair was short & blonde!). Oh if I'd known then...

...

So it’s my guess that the coming year 2011 will be full of new adventures, people and challenges for me. And as departures always do, come spring, it will also hold some painful good-byes when leaving loved ones so very far behind. But I know, and I know they know, it's all for the best because love & friendship will endure even oceans that separate us...(not to mention that it gives everybody an excellent excuse to come & visit! YAY!)

As for this blog: Oh I have BIG plans! In a creative way. I have lots of ideas and I'm sure a ton of inspiration will be coming my way very soon. I am very eager to just go with the flow and see where it all will take me (& little home.town.treasure)!

So much for now..

much love,
